A Youth Retreat is being planned at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp near Luray, Virginia. It will be for 7th -12th graders. Confirmation students are expected to attend. All students/families are asked to pay part of the cost which is $50. We will be staying at the farmhouse at the camp and have opportunities to enjoy hiking, canoeing, campfires, games, and exploring the theme “I am a Child of God” together. All are welcome to join us for a Blessing of the Animals. Our church family commemorates God’s and the Church’s love, care, and concern for animal creations. As we recognize our mutual interdependence with God’s creatures, the Church’s witness of stewardship of creation is strengthened. This service has special appeal to young and old alike. The Blessing is celebrated outside on the church lawn.

As the 2018/2019 school year winds to a close, we at Crossroads are gearing up for the start of the 2019/2020 school year. Every year, we reflect upon what we can do better and how we can raise community awareness about food insecurity in our local schools. We recently held our annual “Thank You” happy hour with school counselors and social workers. Eight of our youth and three adults went on a mission trip to Taylorsville, North Carolina the last week of June. The group learned about the strengths and struggles of marginalized rural populations and had opportunities to serve in different areas of the community each day. Sunday, June 30, participants shared their special memories from the week and how they were blessed to have experienced serving the community.
Calling all Youth! On June 13th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, we will gather at Shepherd of the Hills (4090 Sudley Road) to pack approximately 250 weekend meals for the Crossroads-Connection summer program. The summer program will support elementary aged children who receive free/reduced lunches while attending 9 weeks of Prince William County SACC Summer Camp. In addition, we will have pizza, outdoor games (volleyball, giant Connect 4, etc.) or bring your favorite board game, and community fellowship time. Please note that this is a community event! Eleven church members went to Caroline Furnace Retreat Center in Fort Valley for the SOTH 6th Annual Family Fellowship Fishing Fun day on Saturday, May 11. All had a nice time, and more than 25 fish were caught & released. Some caught their first fish ever, and some caught their first fish in 20 years. This year we were allowed to use the paddle boats on the lake. Thanks to Administrator Julie & Director Tom for keeping the building & grounds in great shape, and for making improvements!
